India's BSE Sensex closed marginally lower at 80,267.6 on Tuesday, logging the eighth straight decline, as investor turned more cautious ahead of the RBI's policy outcome tomorrow and amid persistent foreign outflows. Market observers are eager for the RBI’s commentary to gauge potential interest rate directions, although a status quo is largely anticipated. At the same time, foreign outflows continued for the sixth consecutive day. Sector-wise, IT stocks and consumer durables experienced the heaviest selling pressure. Among single stocks, Bharti Airtel, ITC, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, Titan, Tech Mahindra and Reliance Industries were the major laggards, falling between 0.7% and 1.2%. The index recorded a 0.6% monthly gain in September, supported by optimism surrounding GST reforms, but posted a 4% drop for Q3 amid ongoing uncertainty over a US-India trade deal and relentless foreign outflows.

Sensex Ends Slightly Down, Still Books Monthly Gain

Retail sales in Macedonia rose by 1.1% year-on-year in August 2025, rebounding from a 2.3% decline in the previous month. The recovery was driven by stronger automotive fuel sales (+4.8% vs +2.2% in July), a rebound in food, beverages, and tobacco (+3.8% vs -0.4%), and a more moderate drop in non-food product sales (-3.7% vs -6.6%). Excluding fuel, overall retail trade edged up 0.2% in August, reversing a 3.4% decline in July.

Industrial production in North Macedonia fell 3.5% year-on-year in August 2025, marking the first decline in six months and reversing a 4.1% gain in the previous month. Output tumbled in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (-26.8% vs -7.5% in July) and fell in manufacturing (-1.4% vs 7.0%), while mining and quarrying production rose 7.0% compared with a 10.4% drop a month earlier. For the January–August period, industrial output was 2.2% higher than the same period a year ago.

Industrial sales in Italy rose by 0.4% from the previous month in July of 2025, easing from the 1.2% in the previous month but marking the first back-to-back increase since November of the previous year. The figure corresponded to a 0.6% increase from the previous month in the volume of sales. Sales growth were solely carried by foreign orders (0.9%), offsetting a stall among domestic clients. From the previous year, industrial sales turnover was 1.2% higher.
